Double Cleansing (Oil Cleanser and Foam/Cream Cleanser) – Face wash

The first step of the Korean skincare routine is to wash your face twice: once with an oil cleanser and once with a foaming cleanser. Each type of cleanser gets a different types of impurities off your face. Oil Cleanser is effective against oil-based impurities like SPF, makeup and pollutants while foam based cleanser is effective for impurities like dirt and sweat.

Using the double cleansing method you can remove your daily makeup very effectively. I have seen a huge difference in the skin texture after using this method of cleansing.

Below are the oil and foam cleansers that worked for me and the ones I highly recommend.

STEP 1 : Oil Cleansers

My “holy grail” of cleansers is “NATURAL COCONUT CLEANSING OIL” by Aromatica. There are days when I have been extremely tired and used only this and it has been a savior to remove all the makeup and dirt.

Aromatica | NATURAL COCONUT CLEANSING OIL (Highly Recommend!)

Review: The consistency of this cleanser is light like water. It helps remove oil based impurities such as makeup and SPF thoroughly. The skin feels fresh and smooth after using it. I love how it nourishes and hydrates the skin. It has a lovely mild smell (like lavender, not coconut-smelling at all) and doesn’t cause any irritation or breakouts. The oil based formula is very effective is removing impurities and leaves no oil residue on the skin. It washes away just like any regular face wash.

It is made of 100% organic virgin cold-pressed coconut oil. There is a Vegan version of this cleanser as well!

Cremorlab | T.E.N. Cleansing Gel-Oil

Review: This cleanser has more of a gel consistency. When used, it does not have oily viscosity. It removes makeup very well. You need more amount of cleanser as compared to the oil based cleanser. Also, the smell is more artificial (Rose like but not very true to the smell).

Banila Co | Clean it Zero Cleansing Balm

Review: It removes most of the makeup but I did not find it as effective as the NATURAL COCONUT CLEANSING OIL. The scent is strong compared to the other cleansers I mentioned above and can be bothersome. It is very gentle and leaves the skin smooth. Some individuals have complained about light breakouts after using this product.

STEP 2 : Foam/Cream Cleanser

Lagom | Cellup Gel to Water Cleanser (Highly Recommended!)

Review: This cleanser is very lightweight and gentle on the skin. True to the name, this cleanser transforms from gel to water based substance as you massage it on your face. The skin feels hydrated and soft after using this. The cleanser smells like lavender. Because the cleanser is lightweight, it is best used in the morning or with an oil cleanser in the night since it does not remove all the makeup.

I LOVE this cleanser as the skin feels very hydrated after using it. My skin gets dry or irritated after using most of the other cleansers I have come across. This one is very refreshing to use.

MIZON | Egg White Bubble Cleanser

Review: This is a foam based cleanser. This cleanser helps remove dirt, makeup and other pollutants to a certain extent and can be used by itself. It is ideal for oily skin. The skin felt very dry after using this cleanser. It did not seem as smooth and hydrated as it is with a gel based cleanser. It does help is tightening the pores.
